Project GOAL Student Athlete Receives Scholarship To Attend St. George's School Summer Program

Project GOAL Inc. is pleased to announce that one of it's students, Edward Gonzalez of Central Falls, has been accepted into the prestigious St. George's School (Newport, RI www.stgeorges.edu) Summer Session Program on a full $5,200.00 scholarship. The Summer Session is a 5-week, co-educational program for approximately 130 students in grades 8 - 12. Over the past five years, students have come from 20 states and 40 different countries. Edward will live at St. George's during the 5-week program.

Edward Gonzalez (13 years old) attended Calcutt Middle School in Central Falls during the 2005/2006 academic school year as an 8th grader and applied to the St. George's Summer Program through Project GOAL. Edward has been a participant in Project GOAL since 2004. Edward was also accepted earlier to attend Providence Country Day School in East Providence for the 2006/2007 academic school year. Two other Project GOAL participants, Servi Barrientos of Providence (14 years old) and John Olivo of Central Falls (12 years old), were also accepted into area private schools for the 2006/2007 academic school year. Servi Barrientos will be attending the Rocky Hill School in East Greenwich, RI and John Olivo will be attending Moses Brown School in Providence. All three Project GOAL students were accepted to attend on full scholarships.

Project GOAL, Inc., is an after-school initiative that partners with both the Central Falls and Providence School Departments. Its mission is to facilitate the development of New England's disadvantaged inner city youth through after-school tutoring, health education, and soccer-related programs.

Project GOAL, Inc., is a non-profit 501 © 3 organization comprised of professionals from the business, academic, health, and soccer communities who support the project in achieving its objectives to create opportunities for its "GOALie" participants.
