PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Project GOAL will receive a $10,000 donation from The Adalius Thomas Foundation as a result of The 2nd Annual Adalius Thomas Evening, a charity dinner and auction, held at Camille’s Restaurant (Providence, RI) in December 2008. The Adalius Thomas Foundation, founded in 2002, is a non-profit organization that organizes and funds many different events and programs for children. “Being part of the NFL has taught me that if you have the opportunity to give back to the community, you do so with integrity and compassion. No one suffers more from poverty and poor education than today’s children. Being a father myself, I understand how much a loving, nuturing childhood can make all the difference. So, I set out to create a foundation dedicated to just this purpose….enriching the lives of children” - Patriots Linebacker Adalius Thomas.
“We feel extremely happy and fortunate to be a beneficiary of Adalius’ foundation. These funds will continue to provide our students with necessary elements of our program like transportation, tutoring, equipment, and food, free of charge” – Darius Shirzadi, Executive Director and Co-Founder.
Project GOAL, Inc. (Greater Opportunity for Athletes to Learn), is an after-school initiative that partners with the Central Falls School Department, SCOPE/Central Falls School District, Providence School Department, and the Soccer Rhode Island Olympic Development Program. Project GOAL’s mission is to facilitate the development of New England’s disadvantaged inner city youth through after-school tutoring, health education, and soccer-related programs.
A non-profit 501©3 organization, Project GOAL, Inc., is comprised of professionals from the business, academic, health and soccer communities who support the project in achieving its objectives in creating opportunities for its “GOALie” participants.
